Deck Planking

Finally started laying down the deck planking, which is 1×6 Ipe (Ironwood). This stuff's supposed to last 25 years at the boardwalk, with a million people marching on it and salty air, so out in the dry sticks it should last much longer.

The first thing to go bad on a deck is the structure. So, I made sure to flash the ledgers (which also keeps the house from rotting), and am covering the tops of all the structural members with leftover strips of bitchathane from the roof, stapled down with SS staples. All the lumber ends were brushed with copper green, and did lots of caulking to try to keep them dry.
