Fanny is my great-grandmother. She is of the famous racing Chevrolets, sister of Louis and Gaston. They were French-speaking Swiss from Bonfol. The family story is that "Louis and Fanny met in a French speaking neighborhood in Brooklyn."

This is two-time Indy 500 winner Tommy Milton (at the wheel) before the start of the 1921 race. To his right are racing champions Barney Oldfield and Louis Chevrolet. Original inscription on the back reads "[to] John & Helen / Tommy & I / Before". Another hand notes, "UNCLE HENRY WITH FOOT ON CAR, TOMMY BEHIND WHEEL. UNCLE LOUIS CHEVROLET IN BLACK HAT, SUIT, MOUSTACHE & DARK TIE". |
