| The two roof beams are 5 1/8" × 18" with a 30' maximum span. Without the interior columns, the full 40' span would have required beams 24" high which was getting obtrusive. It was the engineer's idea (Brad Myers) to add the columns and run the beams through the walls for outside detail. |
