WORKADAY EQUIPMENT OF WATUTU WOMAN
Typical wayfarer with knapsack and staff, every appearance testifies
to her being of a vagrant race. Her tribesmen, now settled in the
country south-east of Lake Tanganyika, are descendents of the Angoni, an
allied Kaffir clan, who fled from South Africa a century ago to escape
Zulu tyranny. The axe slung across her shoulder is no empty ornament,
her sturdy arms can wield it with workmanlike efficiency
