Courtesy, that charming characteristic of the Hungarian, is eloquently portrayed in this photograph, where a gallant of some ten summers is seen kissing the hand of a juvenile guest with all the grace of a courtier. The hand of a lady is usually kissed on arrival and departure, and this custom is observed even among the children, just as in the matter of dress young and old wear similar fashions There are still in Hungary some racial reminders of the days of Turkish invasion in the shape of a semi-Oriental strain which persists in this particular region.
