MOUNTAINEER OR BUCCANEER? |
|
SEASONED SLOVAK VETERAN |
This is no reckless, lawless brigand, but a kindly, honest farmer of
Slovakia, who has never been far outside his hamlet, and whose only
luxury is a pipe

MEMBERS OF THE SOUTHERN POPULACE OF NEW SERBIA
In Galitchnik, as in other villages of Western Macedonia, fragments and
relics of old Macedonian lore are evident in the everyday life of the
present generation, whose festivals are a curious fusion of ancient rites
and permeated with strange cosmogonic myths. The women present a medley
of homeliness and pretension, and though possessing little education are
not without intelligence
