In Galitchnik, as in other villages of Western Macedonia, fragments and
relics of old Macedonian lore are evident in the everyday life of the
present generation, whose festivals are a curious fusion of ancient rites
and permeated with strange cosmogonic myths. The women present a medley
of homeliness and pretension, and though possessing little education are
not without intelligence
