existent in Liberia, and here is shown a group of natives disguised with
every fantastic distortion of human semblance that savage imagination
can contrive.  On moonlight nights such may be seen by the venturesome
flitting in and out among the shadows, and it is well for the observer
if he himself be unobserved

Zulu women are magnificent creatures physically, muscularly strong, erect
in carriage, graceful in movement, and statuesque in pose.  A favourite
fashion of dressing the hair is to twist the strands into tight curls
and fix them with clay
